In 2016, about a year before the latest "crisis" over North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons boiled over during the first months of the Trump administration, I spoke to Radio War Nerd for a wide-ranging interview about the unending Korean War and its origins in the Cold War years of the late 1940s.
In 2016, about a year before the latest “crisis” over North Korea’s possession of nuclear weapons boiled over during the first months of the Trump administration, I spoke to Radio War Nerd for a wide-ranging interview about the unending Korean War and its origins in the Cold War years of the late 1940s. At the time, few media outlets were paying attention to Korea, and I was glad to have the chance to tell the full, hidden story as I knew it from living there and nearly 40 years of reporting.
Here’s how I was introduced:

Deep-dive interview with investigative reporter Tim Shorrock on the roots of the recurring North Korea crises . . . we spend time recovering the gruesome lost history of North Korea, South Korea & the Korean War — and the US role in keeping the hostilities simmering . . .

“Recurring” is right. Here we are in November 2002 and tensions are as high as they’ve ever been.
So enjoy. I sure did.
