How DARPA Funded Mass Surveillance in Afghanistan

AN INTEL BIZ NEWS DOCUMENT DUMP

This is a DARPA document from 2010. It was provided by a source inside US intelligence who was uncomfortable with the large amount of surveillance contracts going out to private companies, none of whom are named in this PowerPoint.

The slides lay out in rather chilling detail how US agencies and private contractors combine electronic snooping with human intelligence to cast a surveillance net over a country – in this case, Afghanistan.

According to DARPA itself, 99 percent of its work is done by the private sector.

Here’s a snapshot from the PowerPoint, entitled “More Eyes.” Note the term, “Visualization for Stability Planning.” That was a key term used in the counterinsurgency, which was going full-tilt in Afghanistan at this time.
